How to use the Quick Mask Feature in Clip Studio Paint EX

H Everyone,

Here is a quick tutorial I made on how to use the Quick Mask feature in Clip Studio Paint EX when rendering an image.

Using the Quick Mask can be done by setting your command bar to display it. Go to Clip Studio Paint in MENU > Command Bar > SELECT > Quick Mask. That will display it along your command bar menu at top of screen. Another way is to set it under the letter Q by going to Clip Studio Paint in MENU > Shortcut settings > SELECT > edit shortcut > Type in the letter Q > Save.

You can then use your (M)arquee Lasso to make a selection on your image. Hit Q or your command bar icon. It will turn your selection red. Grab your favourite soft brush and modify the image. The soft you push and extend the selection, it will turn a lighter shade of red. Once done, hit Q or your command bar icon and the quick mask layer/selection will disappear and the red will go away. Then you can brush in your shadows or lighter colour.  Building it up. And that is that.

Cheers!
